Christian Louboutin has never designed shoes with safety in mind. Instead he takes chances and stays away from designs that are too conservative. A perfect example can be seen through Louboutin's use of spikes throughout the years. Louboutin began using spikes in shoe designs because of the opposition between spikes and velvet.
Rodarte
In the Fall of 2008, the following gold studded-and-spiked heels were created for the Rodarte 2008 collections. The heels were crystal embellished and included multiple studded and spiked ankle straps.

Louis Flat - No Limit Python
The 'No Limit Flat Python Strass Spikes were released in 2013. The shoes include Swarovski crystal rhinestones, zebra fur and python leather.

The Kryptonite pumps had spikes from heel to toe.

The Rollerboy Spikes were yet another popular design where Louboutin was able to show off his creativity.
