5 Enlightening Facts About the Unforgettable Rolex Day-Date President Timepiece

ONE
The watch is dynamic.  It has survived the test of time and it remains the first choice for many political leaders, actors and athletes.
The Rolex Day-Date (“President”), was released in 1956.  This was decades before the iWatch therefore Rolex was praised for the watch’s innovative features: automatic movement, day/date disc and the back screwed down.

TWO
Prior to his presidency, Dwight D. Eisenhower was a 5-Star U.S. General.  Rolex gave him a Datejust with an 18K gold bracelet.  Founder of Rolex, Hans Wilsdorf wanted Rolex to be a symbol of achievement.  Eisenhower played the most substantial role in saving the world from Nazi aggression there it was only right for Wilsdorf to choose the future President.

THREE
Rolex refers to the band as the President bracelet whereas the watch is referred to as the ‘Day-Date’.  Although President Eisenhower was given a Day-Date without the ‘President’ band, the watch is still synonymous with his name.  President Eisenhower’s Rolex had 5 stars, his initials and 12-19-1950 engraved.  The date reflects the day that he became the Supreme Commander of NATO.  The engravings do not stop there.  On President Eisenhower’s Day-Date, his initials are also engraved on the clasp.

FOUR
The Day-Date is offered in platinum, white gold and 18K gold.
Owners can swim and dive in their Day-Date watches.  Newer models can be used as deep as 100 meters.  In previous models, owners could only take the watches 50 meters deep.
