8 Facts about Versace and the Venetian Print Silk Shirts


I.
As Migos and Drake state: “Versace (x4)”.  Gianni Versace became friends with many hip-hop artists in the 90’s.  The recent resurgence of the silk Versace shirt shows how much people embraced the brand and still love the high-end unforgettables.

Gianni Versace launched his brand in Italy in 1978.  By 1998, Versace built his brand into a fashion empire worth over $800 million.  He has been recognized for his flamboyant designs. Versace was murdered outside of his Miami Beach mansion in 1997.

Biggie and Diddy wore Versace shirts in the Hypnotize video.  Versace did not make shirts in Biggie’s size; instead he had to have his tailor-made.  On the opposite coast, Tupac also wore Versace.  Him and Gianni Versace were close friends.  The Notorious B.I.G. also managed to put Versace shades on the map and 20 years later, they are also still around.

Versace has recently re-released some of their most admired designs.  Rappers like Drake and Rick Ross have been seen wearing the shirts recently.

V.
Many females have been seen wearing silk Versace shirts.  Cassie and Beyonce were recently seen wearing the high-end unforgettables.  The Brooklyn Venetian Print Silk Shirt that Beyonce was spotted in retails for $1275.

VI.
A couple years back, Versace released a collection through H&M.  Many of the pieces reminded me of the vintage patterns found in these shirts.

The shirts made Versace relevant for rappers and they continue to use their creativity to show off the brand.  Kanye West has a Versace couch and Ghostface has a Versace medallion.

Donatella Versace took over the brand in 1997.  She solidified herself as a designer when J. Lo wore that beautiful green dress at the 2000 Grammy Awards.  Donatella also built a relationship with Biggie, who would come to her shows and mention her in songs.
